Privacy for families
Play locally, with optional family sync.
Effective August 18, 2026. Jay, Kay, & Elle is designed for children and families. The website does not ask children to create an account, provide a name, email address, phone number, location, photo, recording, or other contact details.
What the games save
Some games save play progress, settings, artwork, high scores, projects, and optional notes or text entered into a game in the browser’s local storage. The Writing app saves document titles and Markdown writing locally. This information stays on the browser and device where it was created unless a parent chooses to enable Family Sync. A child can remove local information by using the game’s clear or delete controls, or by clearing this site’s browser data.
Optional Family Sync
Only a parent can create a Family Sync account. Before sync is enabled, the parent receives a direct notice, gives consent through the parent email address, and receives a separate confirmation. Family Sync stores the parent email address, a password hash, generated child-profile labels and avatars, and the minimal game progress and writing documents the parent chooses to sync. Writing titles and Markdown text are encrypted and belong to the selected child profile; older writings stay unassigned until a parent deliberately assigns them. The Writing app can download exports to the current device or email them only to the verified parent account email; there is no sharing or recipient-address feature.
Tracking, advertising, and sharing
The website is designed without child accounts, behavioral advertising, social-media plug-ins, or third-party analytics. It does not provide public profiles, chat, comments, cloud galleries, or online leaderboards. Local high scores use the label “Player” and are visible only on the same device. Family Sync information is not used for advertising and is not made public.
Hosting and security
Like most websites, the hosting provider may receive technical information such as an IP address, browser type, and request time to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot the site. This information must be used only for site operations, protected with reasonable safeguards, and kept only as long as necessary. The site operator must not add analytics, advertising, or other third-party tracking without updating this notice and completing a children’s-privacy review.
Parents
Parents may ask questions, review, export, or delete synced information, or revoke Family Sync consent by contacting the site operator at [email protected] or by deleting the Family Sync parent account. Deleting that account deletes all associated profiles, synced game data, and synced writings. Because local game data stays on the device, clearing site data is also needed to remove local copies.
Changes
If these practices change in a way that involves collecting, using, or sharing a child’s personal information, the site operator will update this notice and, where required, give parents direct notice and obtain verifiable parental consent before that collection occurs.
